I knew these would be a great craft night project, because it's crazy inexpensive, and relatively quick and easy = more time for chattin', drinkin', and stuffin' our faces;) Always an important factor for Girls Night.
You will only need a few things:
1. a letter
2. moss sheets
3. glue gun (and sticks)
Here's how we did it:
We all bought a pack of these all-purpose moss sheets (can be found at Hob Lob or Michaels).
For the letter, I just used some foam board I had leftover from a project, and used the edge of my scissors to cut through (couldn't find that darn exacto knife!). At first I tried winging my W, but wasn't thrilled with the outcome...
You can also use plain ol' cardboard - that's what I was planning on using, and some of the girls used it - but I didn't have any - whaaa?! Who doesn't have cardboard laying around?? Guess I tossed it all in the recycling bin last week. And some of the girls also just picked up some of those inexpensive unfinished/paper mache type letters from any craft store, and used those.
Then just flip your letter over, and cut the moss so that it goes over to the back. I ended up covering the back also, because I didn't know if I might ever end up hanging it over a mirror, and in that case, I'd want the back covered.
Then when you're done (which we all were pretty quickly with this project!), just bask in your moss-y mess and beautiful letter, and hang with the girls, drink and eat up!
We decided Shannon won the award for cutest letter - she picked up some butterflies and glued them on - how cute is that?!
For the moment, I have mine on a shelf in the dining room, with some other Springy accessories...
OH! Are you ready for the best part? I've seen these at Pottery Barn before, but didn't know the exact price...I looked it up, and for the same letter that I paid less than $5 to make, I would have had to spend $79 at PB!
