Yes, I posted last week about the teacher gifts for my preschooler's teachers. And I was planning on doing the same gift for my kindergartener's teacher as well, until the other day. An idea popped in my head when I was looking at my DIY tile coasters. I thought to myself, hmmm...I still have a bunch of white tiles leftover, and I always have scraps of pretty scrapbook paper leftover from one project or another. Maybe I could make her some coasters, but with what else? I got to thinking what I always use my coasters for: my COFFEE! Yes! A cute mug, and a bag of coffee to go with it! Done and done. So let this be a lesson to you, dear readers. ALWAYS have tiles, scrapbook paper, and mod podge on hand and you will ALWAYS have a gift that can be made in no time;)
These are sooo easy, and super cute too! And can't beat the cost - I mean, what is tile, like ten cents or something?! And scrapbook paper? Insane how inexpensive this gift is! In case you missed the post about my tile coasters from a while back, here's a quick rundown:
1. Gather materials: mod podge, a foam brush to apply it, tiles, and paper cut to size.
2. Apply the mod podge to the back of a piece of paper (rather thickly):
3. Lay it on the tile, and apply another thick coat to the top:
4. Work out the air bubbles if you see any forming, and wait for them to dry. Don't worry if you still see white from the mod podge - it'll dry clear, I promise:)
Once they're dry, take them outside, lay on an old blanket or towel, and give them a quick spray with a clear protective spray coat. (Can be found with regular spray paint wherever you buy yours - just look for something that says something along the lines of "clear coat/protects/seals/etc."
Give them a little time to dry, then bring them in and apply these little felt stickers:
Just flip the tiles over and stick them to the four corners;
Now they won't scratch the table!
Perfect for a cuppa joe! (or tea, or whatevs;)
Bag it all up, add a nice thank you card and good to go!
That should be it for the teacher gifts for this year! Yay for Summer Vacation!!!
