Oh, how I love a good yard sale! I get such a thrill from finding old stuff and making it new again...to the tune of a couple bucks! That's exactly what I did with a gold mirror I picked up for $2 a few weeks ago. It wasn't the prettiest thing, but I knew I needed it. Didn't know if I was going to spray it a funky color, make it a chalkboard, hang it on a wall, use it as a tray...or what. That's the beauty of yard sale finds - even if you don't know what you'll do to it or with it, for a couple bucks, you can go for it! And now I have a sweet little tray on my dining room table. Perfect spot for a pitcher of our hydrangeas...
Here's what it looked like when I picked it up at the yard sale:
I covered the mirror with paper and painter's tape to protect it from the spray paint (fortunately, the paper slid right between the mirror and gold rim, so it worked out well!).
Took it outside, sprayed that bad boy, and was left with a pretty white tray!
Not bad for 2 bucks and a few minutes at naptime today! Ah, spray paint, I never tire of you;)
Oh, and look what I noticed as I was standing in my kitchen this afternoon:
Ha! Looks like I have a thing for hydrangeas and white pitchers, huh?

I love yard sales.. we call it treasure hunting.. my 4 year spots the signs before I do!
ReplyDeleteAre those your Hydraneas? They are beautiful! Love the tray and how you transformed it! Spray paint is wonderful!
ReplyDeletethanks! And yep, they're ours - I pick them from our garden constantly - as soon as they die, a new batch goes in the pitcher! lol!
ReplyDeletethe last shot is so pretty! love all the work you have done =)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! Wish I could grow Hydrangeas. They blossomed the first year and ever summer since then all we get are the leaves. Thanks for sharing your creativity.
ReplyDeleteRandom but do you know many ounces that pitcher is? I am looking for one on amazon and they all seem too small!
ReplyDeletethanks, everyone:) And no, I'm sorry, have no idea on the ounces - it was a yard sale find from years ago that I spray painted.
ReplyDeleteThere will always be a nice catch when one goes to a yard sale, as long as he/she has a good eye for details and quality. There are items that we keep in storage for future purposes but there are things that we can already put up for sale so that they will be useful to others. Thanks for the info!
ReplyDeleteI got the exact same mirror at a thrift Store today. Unfortunately I paid double the price ($4 ;) ) I want to spray paint it as well but maybe give it more that shabby chic look.
