Gold Spray Paint: Aka How to Look Like a Million Bucks!

Now that Summer's pretty much over, (excuse me while I grab a tissue to wipe my tears...)

...Ok, I'm back. Whew, that was rough, sorry.

As I was saying...I finally got to a project I'd had in the back of my mind since the weather topped 70 degrees. I had an old large conch shell since, oh, forever, and I had been wanting to give it a gold makeover. Well, now that's it almost September, and the seashells and sand decor around here is about to head back into storage, I took that sucker outside and gave it its much deserved makeover.
Isn't she pretty? ;)

Here's what she looked like 5 seconds ago. (Seriously, this took about that long, and can't believe I hadn't just done this in, oh, I don't know, May!?)...
I had the shell, had the gold spray paint, so this was a freebie makeover! Love those kind! :)

Gold spray paint can COMPLETELY change the look of ANYTHING and turn it into some expensive piece of art, not something you picked up at a cheesy souvenir shop eons ago. I mean, have you seen the super talented Carmel's Gold Animal Cracker Jar Turned Lamp?!!! I mean, you MUST. Not should, MUST.  Don't know if you need much more convincing than that! ;)

So for the next, oh, week or so, I'll enjoy looking at this pretty gold shell, and next time I get it out, I'll place her on a stack of books on my new bookcases in my NEW family room...can't wait!

Speaking of the end of summer...this upcoming week will be our last week until school starts, the return of hectic mornings, homework, packing lunches, waking up early...all that jazz:(. So I'll be taking just a little hiatus from the blog next week while I savor the last of the pool days, the sand between my toes, the late nights getting snowballs, and just plain takin' it easy with my little family. Just don't want to miss a second of it, I hope you understand.
But after the week's up, get ready...one great thing about school starting again is that I get to start a-paintin'!!! Family room HERE I COME!!! :)

Happy Last Days of Summer to you and yours!

that's totally cute! I need to get some gold spray paint! Enjoy your blogging break. Oh, and I have to laugh...I read the word late night "snowball" a few times...do you by chance mean snow cone? or is there something about a late night snowball in summer that I don't know about!? :-)

I just adore this blog! I have to do any home stuff during "quiet time/nap time." Thats why my backyard fence was painted in quarters. Ha! Thanks so much for posting these fun projects!
